The local Beta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is offering one or more scholarships of at least $2,000 to a Wake County Public School System senior who plans to enter the field of education. TEAF will award up to ten (10) non-renewable scholarships of Five Thousand dollars ($5,000) each. The scholarships will be given in two parts, Two Thousand Five Hundred dollars ($2,500) upon enrollment in an accredited two or four year college or university, and Two Thousand Five Hundred dollars ($2,500) upon full-time enrollment in a second consecutive semester at the same school, having passed a minimum of twelve (12) hours while maintaining an overall GPA of at least 2.5/4.0 scale.

VMCCA is able to nominate two students for this award. The Light on the Hill Society Scholarship effort began during the 2005 UNC Black Alumni Reunion. Organizers challenges alumni to initially contribute $1,952 each - representing the 1952 class year of Harvey Beech, Carolina's first African-American graduate - to become founding members of the scholarship fund.
