The Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities has funding from the City of Raleigh to award two scholarships for $1,000 each to assist persons with documented disabilities in their pursuit of academic and vocational endeavors. It is called the James Benton Achievement Award.
The academic scholarship is to be awarded to a person with a disability who is pursuing an educational goal. This scholarship is designed to assist with tuition, books, fees, and/or special equipment for undergraduate course work from an accredited institution.
Applicants must be residents of the city of Raleigh and must be enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited undergraduate post-secondary school, college, trade school or other institution of higher learning.
The selection of scholarship recipients shall be based upon academic performance, financial need, character, school, work and community activities, honors, ability to express him/herself in written form, personal motivation and/or leadership potential.
The North Carolina Bar Association’s Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Section is pleased to announce a sustainability essay contest, open to interested high school students.

The winning essays will be published in the fall edition of Environmental News, the quarterly publication of the Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 1ST DUE TO SCHOOL CLOSURES
The local Beta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is offering one or more scholarships of at least $2,000 to a Wake County Public School System senior who plans to enter the field of education.
The applicants should return the completed application packet to the Scholarship Committee by April 1st. The recipient will be notified by May 6th. The presentation of the scholarship award will be held on the evening of May 21st. The recipient and/or a family member will need to be present to accept the award.
